Webinar series aims to drive zero emission shipping

Leaders from across global ship management company V.Group are holding a series of webinars to coincide with COP26.

V.Group’s marine services solutions provider, Oceanic, has launched OceansFirst, an initiative which brings together V.Group’s environmental and sustainability initiatives under one banner.

A series of webinars will take place from 8-12 November held by experts from across V.Group. Speakers will include Global Head of Technical James Bradford and SeaTec’s Subsea Director Nick Laker.

The webinar series aims to highlight the challenges and opportunities for the shipping industry, giving practical advice to attendees.

Themes that will be covered in the sessions include; addressing target reduction using IMO’s GHG vessels’ emissions targets and saving fuel and reducing emissions by propeller polishing and hull cleaning.

Matt Dunlop, Director of HSSEQ & Technical at V.Group, said:

“Climate change, decarbonisation and the increased amount of associated government regulation, all in the face of a global pandemic, has required a seismic shift in the approach of the whole shipping industry.

“As world leaders come together for COP26, we’ve planned a series of webinars that focus on the specific challenges and opportunities facing the maritime sector. As the backbone of international trade, our sector must come together to share knowledge and drive the decarbonisation agenda.”
