V.Ships Leisure joins roster of partners for Blue Star Lines’ Titanic II project

2018 was a busy year for V.Group in the cruise sector. While we continued to work with all major cruise groups in some form, we also leveraged our scale to the advantage of smaller cruise companies, often in niche sectors with specialist offerings. One example of this was the Magellan Explorer for Antarctica21, an Antarctic vessel customised for fly-cruises.

The year ended with news of another unique project; in December, Blue Star Line announced the appointment of V.Ships as the shipmanagement services partner for the Titanic II project.

Along with the project’s other partners, including Deltamarin and Tillberg design, V.Ships Leisure will provide technical and hotel cruise operation insight and support during the project development, tender process, newbuilding supervision and entry into service.

This project aims to recreate the luxurious period aesthetic of the original Titanic, with the same cabin layout and interiors as the original, yet at the same time creating a modern vessel that fully integrates the latest safety procedures and technology.

Commenting on the announcement, V.Ships Leisure Director Per Bjornsen said: “this process showcases the full spectrum of how shipmanagement can add value to the management of a cruise vessel from the very beginning – long before the first steel is even cut – functioning as a partner for outsourcing, not just a technical manager.”
