V.Group joins London panel discussion on seafarer wellbeing
Mike Bradshaw, Global Head of HSEQ, joined a panel of industry experts to discuss the importance of seafarer wellbeing at a Marshall Islands Quality Council meeting held in London earlier this month (November).
The panel discussion, ‘Seafarer Welfare-Critical from every perspective’, was held at Stationers’ Hall and saw Mike joined by representatives from Scorpio Ship Management, Warsash School of Maritime Science and Engineering, Sailors’ Society and the UK P&I Club.
During the discussion, Mike spoke about how V.Group is working with Indian-based, Marine Benefits, to survey more than 3,000 seafarers on issues relating to health and wellbeing.
“The survey, Re:Fresh, will give us and Marine Benefits the information to develop measures which we will put in place in 2019 in three cores areas of medical fitness, increased awareness and wellbeing”, said Mike.
“The event was also an opportunity to outline just a few of the measures, such as health and wellbeing e-learning modules, developed by Marlins, and project Embark’s plans for a 24-hour help line for seafarer medical issues to show we care and can make a real difference to the lives of our seafarers”, added Mike.
