Costas Kontes has had oversight for V.Ships Greece since 2016, while previously serving as Business Development Manager for V. Group since 2008. He is responsible for the office in Greece and for operating a large fleet of container, bulk carrier and tanker vessels.
Previously he has been serving leisure sector, working for Iberojet Cruceros. Being responsible for the marine and technical operations, Costas set up the technical and operations in Madrid for the company later on to expand from one to four owned ships.
Other positions held previously were with Martinoli SAM in Monaco managing the R – fleet with a major milestone being the successful launching of Oceania Cruises.
He has a BSc, MSc in Marine Engineering from Newcastle University Upon Tyne and MSc in Shipping, Trade and Finance from City University Business School. Successfully completed the executive leadership development course designed for V.Group from Strathclyde Business School and currently holds the title of the Chartered Engineer from the British Engineering Council.
Costas has served eight years at The International Propeller Club Port of Piraeus as a governor, out of which two years were served as Secretary General and four years as Vice President.
