V.Group & CSL employees get active to raise funds & awareness for cancer centre

V.Ships Canada teamed up with client Canada Steamship Lines (CSL Group) to take part in a cycle ‘Ride to Conquer Cancer’ on the 5th & 6th of July 2014.

The sponsored cycle ride raised funds for the Segal Cancer Centre at the Jewish General Hospital in Montréal. Normand Dubreuil of V.Ships Canada & Alex D’Astous of CSL acted as co-captains for team V-CSL.

A team of 20 V.Ships Canada and CSL employees including CSL Group Owner and Board Member David Martin, CSL President Louis Martel, V.Ships Canada Managing Director Sandy Herriot, and V.Ships Group Trainer Phil Bulman joined 2,500 other cyclists on a 250km ride through Quebec’s beautiful countryside. Team V–CSL cycled from Montréal to Quebec City along the north bank of the St. Lawrence River wearing specially designed cycling shirts including both V.Ships logo and CSL’s signature funnels.

Peter R. Forton Managing Director CAPE Fund said: “Normand and fellow V-Ship CSL Riders, What a great weekend! All should be proud of their efforts both physically as well as in supporting the cause of cancer research in a meaningful way. It was great to meet so many of you for the first time and I appreciated the warm welcome and spirit of camaraderie that I received in joining your team. Many thanks to all at V-Ship/CSL for helping to organize our participation in the event and to Normand specifically for his coordinating efforts. Thanks as well to Mario for getting our bikes back safely. Cheers and congratulations!”

Team V-CSL made this ride in memory of CSL and V.Ships employee Fleet Superintendent Alain Larocque who sadly passed away in July 2013 after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Well done to Team V-CSL!
