Cyprus office efforts recognised with Ministerial visit

On 25th August the V.Ships Cyprus office was pleased to welcome Marios Demetriades, the Cyprus Minister of Transport, Communications and Works.

Mr Demetriades’ visit to the office was in recognition of hard work and operations put in place by V.Ships Cyprus employees to remain at the forefront of the local shipping industry.

2The Minister’s visit included an introduction to the Limassol based office and a brief update on the history of V.Group, presented by General Manager Alex Halavins, followed by an informal session with the local management team to discuss various Ministry-led initiatives intended to re-invigorate the island’s shipping industry. Mr Demetriades also delivered an inspiring speech to all personnel.

Alex thanked the Minister for taking the time to visit our Offices and assured him that V.Ships is supportive of the Government in promoting the Cyprus based shipping industry in an active and constructive way.

V.Ships Cyprus has recently been working on several on-going projects including the organic expansion of the managed fleet, supporting local training initiatives, providing consultancy to local pro-government entities on various merchant shipping issues as well as actively participating in and speaking at international events in co-ordination with Cyprus Shipping Chamber.

Alex added: “We are very proud to have the Minister visit our office. It’s not every day that a Government Official passes through our premises and it was very positive morale boost for all of our employees. The visit afforded the opportunity to discuss various operational matters in an informal environment and to recognise local government support with regard to business development in the area.”
